The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial
The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial was designed with children in mind. It is located in the southwest corner of Hyde Park.
The fountain was designed by Kathryn Gustafson, an American landscape artist, and cost 3.5 million pounds. The made by McConnell and Sons in Kilkeel, Northern Ireland. The Memorial was opened by Her Majesty The Queen on 6th July 2004.
The fountain is made from 545 pieces of Cornish granite - each shaped by the latest
computer-controlled machinery and pieced together using traditional skills.
The water flows from the highest point in two directions as it descends the fountain
before meeting in a calm pool at the bottom. The water is constantly being refreshed
and is drawn directly from London's water table.
